Residents of Ise Community in Epe Division of Lagos State have publicly dismissed rumours of political disunity within the town, declaring unwavering support for the re-election of the member representing Epe Federal Constituency, Wale Raji, during a massive reception held in his honour on Monday.
The colourful gathering, which drew thousands of residents, party faithful, youths, market women, traditional leaders, and stakeholders from across the constituency, transformed the ancient community into a carnival-like atmosphere filled with music, cultural displays, chants, and open endorsements for the federal lawmaker.
The event also featured strong solidarity messages in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Obafemi Hamzat, Tokunbo Abiru, and Abiodun Tobun, as party stakeholders reiterated their commitment to continuity, stability, and progressive leadership within the constituency.
In a remarkable cultural display, a revered traditional masquerade made a rare public appearance in honour of Rep. Wale Raji — a symbolic gesture community elders described as a special recognition reserved only for highly respected personalities and historic occasions within the town.
Speaking during the gathering, Chairman of Ward B1, Mr. Abolore, firmly dismissed rumours suggesting that Ise Community had withdrawn support for the lawmaker, describing such claims as false, baseless, and politically motivated.
According to him, the purpose of the gathering was to unite political stakeholders and community members in one voice to publicly reaffirm their endorsement of Wale Raji ahead of the forthcoming political exercise.
“No one should pay attention to the false rumour that Ise has rejected Rep. Wale Raji. That is far from the truth and can never happen,” he declared.
“Wale Raji is our son and he has represented this constituency well. He has remained committed to our people and has continued to facilitate meaningful projects across communities. There is no reason for Ise to abandon its own.”
He further praised the lawmaker for facilitating developmental projects across the constituency, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare.
Also speaking, Vice Chairman of Ward B1, Mr. Bakare Muyideen Oluwaseun, described the overwhelming turnout as clear evidence of the love and acceptance Wale Raji enjoys among the people of Ise.
He explained that the special masquerade displayed during the event carried deep cultural significance and had not appeared publicly for over a decade.
“The reception accorded Rep. Wale Raji today clearly shows he is not just a son of Ise, but a source of pride to the entire community,” he stated.
“The masquerade brought out in his honour is highly symbolic. The last time it appeared was about 15 years ago, which tells you the special regard the people have for him.”
Representatives from Wards B1, C1, and D1 also took turns to reaffirm their total support for the federal lawmaker, assuring him of massive mobilisation and grassroots support ahead of the May 15 political exercise.
The ward representatives stressed that contrary to rumours circulating in some quarters, the people of Ise remain united and fully aligned behind Wale Raji’s re-election bid.
Addressing constituents at the event, Rep. Wale Raji expressed appreciation for the warm reception and urged politicians across the constituency to embrace peaceful, issue-based politics devoid of bitterness, insults, and unnecessary blackmail.
“In politics, contesting against someone should not translate into hostility or blackmail,” the lawmaker said.
“To those who may have said unpleasant things against me, I have already forgiven them. Politics should be about service, ideas, and development.”
The federal lawmaker also highlighted several projects executed under his representation, including road construction and rehabilitation projects, healthcare interventions, solar-powered electricity initiatives, educational support programmes, and market infrastructure development across Ise and neighbouring communities.
He assured residents that continuity in office would enable the completion of ongoing projects while opening doors for additional initiatives focused on youth empowerment, economic growth, infrastructure expansion, and community development across Epe Federal Constituency.
The event concluded with prayers by community leaders, goodwill messages from party stakeholders, cultural performances, and repeated declarations by residents who described Wale Raji as a grassroots leader deeply committed to the welfare, unity, and advancement of the constituency.
