Lagostrend report that the traditional rulers across Ibeju-Lekki have called for peace, unity, and harmony among all aspirants and supporters ahead of the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I.
The historic meeting, held at the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Tajudeen Afolabi Adebanjo Elemoro, brought together respected monarchs, and representatives of all contestants, all of whom unanimously agreed to maintain peace and uphold the spirit of fairness throughout the electoral process.
Speaking during the gathering, the Chairman of the Ibeju Council of Obas and the Onibeju of Ibeju Land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Waliu Olasunkanmi Razak, stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence and political maturity among all contestants.
According to the revered monarch, the traditional institution remains committed to ensuring stability and progress in Ibeju-Lekki, noting that violence or political conflict must not be allowed to disrupt the peace of the constituency.
“We know where we are going, and all we want is peace among all the contestants in Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I. We do not want violence or conflict during the election process, the Party has unanimously endorsed a particular aspirant, and we align with the Party leadership decision. However, a level playing field should be provided for all other contestants to test their popularity and that must be done in a peaceful atmosphere.” the royal father stated.
He further emphasized the crucial role traditional institutions continue to play in nation-building and grassroots development.
“Our vision is clear — a Nigeria where traditional institutions are recognised as critical stakeholders in promoting peace, preserving values, strengthening harmony, and advancing grassroots development,” Oba Onibeju added.
The meeting has since been described by political observers and community leaders as a strong demonstration of unity and responsible leadership by the traditional rulers of Ibeju-Lekki, especially at a time when peaceful democratic engagement remains essential for community growth and political stability.
