The 13th Governing Council of Lagos State University (LASU) has officially commenced its annual inspection tour of the University’s campuses, beginning with a comprehensive assessment of facilities at the Main Campus in Ojo on Monday, 16th February 2026.
The exercise marks the first official campus tour by the newly constituted Council under the leadership of its Chairman, Mr. Babatunde Ogala, SAN, who led Council members alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, and other principal officers of the University.
The tour began at about 10:00 a.m. at the iconic Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, setting the tone for a detailed review of ongoing and completed infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing teaching, learning, research, and student welfare.
Key Facilities Inspected
Among the major highlights of the inspection was the state-of-the-art Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu University Library. Council members were taken through its expansive reading halls, Special Education Unit, and the Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre by the Acting Director of Works, Engr. Solomon Salami.
The team also assessed the four-storey LASU Tech Hub Complex currently under construction by the Lagos State Government, as well as the new Faculty of Management Sciences building. These projects are expected to significantly boost innovation, entrepreneurship, and academic excellence within the University community.
Strengthening Student Welfare and Academic Expansion
In further demonstration of LASU’s rapid infrastructural growth, the Council visited newly constructed student hostels, including Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hall and Sulaimon Adeshina Raji Ashade Hall. A 22-room hostel facility under construction—donated by Alhaja Kadijat Omotayo Kareem, Personal Assistant to the President on Constituency Projects—was also inspected. Upon completion, the facility will accommodate 60 students.
The delegation made a stop at the impressive three-storey Cultural Research Centre donated by HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi. The facility comprises an auditorium, museum, library complexes, and office spaces, designed to promote cultural scholarship and research.
Additionally, the Council visited the Federal Government-funded ICT Centre, boasting a 2,000-seat CBT capacity, alongside the construction site of the School of Creativity, Culture and Tourism Studies and the five-storey Academic Resource and Conference Centre. The latter features event halls, a guest house, kitchenette, indoor games halls, and office spaces, reinforcing LASU’s commitment to providing a holistic academic environment.
The inspection tour concluded at the 750-seat auditorium generously donated by Hon. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, after which the team returned to the Senate Building at approximately 2:00 p.m.

The annual campus tour underscores the Governing Council’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and infrastructural development across all LASU campuses. The next phase of the inspection exercise is scheduled to hold at the Badagry Campus on Wednesday, 18th February 2026.
