The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has alerted the public to a fraudulent document currently circulating on social media, falsely presented as an official INEC Public Notice containing the names of candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Federal House of Representatives elections in Lagos State ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The Commission wishes to categorically state that the purported notice is fake, misleading, and did not emanate from INEC or any of its authorized channels.
According to the Commission, it has neither authorized nor published any such notice, and the document in question does not form part of any official electoral process undertaken by INEC. The Commission further clarified that the signature appearing on the document does not belong to the Secretary to the Commission and is therefore fraudulent.
INEC emphasized the following:
The Commission has not released any official notice containing candidates' names for the Lagos State Federal House of Representatives elections.
The circulating document is not from any recognized INEC platform or communication channel.
The signature appended to the document is forged and should not be regarded as authentic.
The Commission urged members of the public, political parties, election stakeholders, and media organizations to disregard the fake publication in its entirety and to verify all electoral information through INEC's official communication platforms.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, credibility, and the timely dissemination of accurate information regarding all electoral activities across the country.
The Commission also cautioned individuals and groups against the spread of misinformation capable of misleading the public and undermining confidence in the electoral process.
Signed
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
