In a renewed effort to deepen youth engagement and participation in governance, Hakeem Oluwole Balogun, Supervisor for Youths and Sports Development in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, convened a strategic and interactive meeting with youth representatives from across the council area.
The meeting, marked by openness and mutual respect, provided a valuable platform for young people to express their concerns, aspirations, and innovative ideas directly to the leadership. Representing the Executive Chairman, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Hon. Balogun reaffirmed the administration’s unwavering commitment to youth development and inclusive governance.
Speaking during the session, Hon. Balogun highlighted the Chairman’s comprehensive plans aimed at empowering youths through targeted programmes and initiatives. He emphasized that the administration recognizes young people as vital stakeholders in the socio-economic transformation of Ibeju-Lekki, noting that their energy, creativity, and potential remain key drivers of sustainable development.
In a call to civic responsibility, Hon. Balogun urged youth leaders to champion voter education within their communities. He encouraged them to mobilize eligible youths to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), stressing that active participation in the democratic process is essential for shaping the future of the local government.
The engagement concluded on a positive and forward-looking note, as youth representatives commended the Olowa-led administration for its inclusive approach and open-door policy. They also pledged their continued support and collaboration in advancing youth-focused programmes across the local government.
